- (Q1.)What is OLTAS Challan Correction?
- OLTAS Challan Correction functionality provided by TDSCPC to the deductors for correction in Unclaimed and Matched Challans only. *Fully Consumed, Partially Consumed Challans are not in scope.
- No Assessing Officer approval is required in case of OLTAS Challan correction through TRACES website for changes in Financial Year,Minor Head (200 and 400), Major Head (20/21) and Section Code (except Section Code 195).
- Deductor can request for OTLAS Challan Correction through TRACES.
- This functionality is applicable from FY 2007-08 onwards.
- Below mentioned fields can be corrected through OLTAS Challan Correction functionality
- Financial Year
- Major Head
- Minor Head
- Section code (for Correction in Section 195 user has to visit AO)
- OLTAS Challan Correction can be rejected as per below mentioned validations:
- Please ensure that your Assessing Officer is not giving credit of the challan manually for which you are submitting the challan correction from website.
- Please ensure that there is no Online Challan Correction is in progress through TRACES or challan correction in the TDS/TCS statement through NSDL.
- Please ensure that no OLTAS challan correction from Assessing Officer is in progress.
- Please ensure that no refund request should be initiated against OLTAS challan for which you are submitting the challan correction from website.
- Please ensure that your assessing officer should not use the challan for tagging interest/fees for which you are submitting the challan correction from website.
- 1)Login to TRACES
2)Go to 'Statements / Payments' tab.
3)Click on 'Request for OLTAS Challan Correction'
4)User will be provided the option for changing - 'Financial Year / Major Head / Minor Head / Section code(for Correction in Section 195 user has to visit AO)' through OLTAS Challan correction.
5)User will enter the CIN Number, challan details will be displayed accordingly on the screen
6)After selection of correct category from the above mentioned categories, user can create request for changes in the challan. - Status of the correction:
- Go to Statement /Payment Tab & select 'Track OLTAS Challan Correction Request'. Deductor can track the request using three options:
- Request Number
- Date
- View All
- Request once submitted cannot be cancelled.
- Possible Error messages can be:
- Correction will be processed within 24-48 hours.
- Contact to Jurisdictional Assessing Officer.
- : OLTAS Challan Correction can be done multiple times.
- No
| Submitted to ITD | Correction request has been submitted to ITD for processing. |
| Processed | Correction request has been approved by ITD. |
| Rejected | Rejection reason will be mentioned in the Remarks column in Track Correction request. |
| Failed | Request cannot be made available due to some technical issues in data loading. User can submit new request for correction. |
| Challan details entered are not associated with TAN | Challan details entered by deductor are not associated with his TAN |
| Financial Year cannot be greater than Financial year of date of deposit of challan | If user enters Financial Year greater than the date of deposit of challan |
| Invalid challan details | Challan details entered by the deductor are not valid |
| You are not allowed to make correction for Section Code 195 to other Section Code or Vice Versa as this require Jurisdictional Assessing Officer approval | If user selects to change Section 195 to other Section Code or Vice versa |
