- (Q1.)What is Form 16E?
- Form 16E is a TDS certificate for Payment on transfer of virtual digital asset (u/s 194S). Registered Buyer of VDA is required to furnish Form 16E to Seller of VDA within 15 days from the due date of furnishing Form 26QE.
- Form-16E can be downloaded in case of 'Transaction in Cash'.
- Form 16E can be downloaded by registered Buyer of VDA as per the filed 26QE.
- Form 16E can only be submitted when 26QE Statement cum Challan is processed.
- 'Form 16E' is available from A.Y 2023-24 onwards on TRACES website.
- Step 1: Login to TRACES website as a Taxpayer, with "User ID", "Password", "PAN for the Taxpayer" and the "Verification Code". Landing page will be displayed on Screen.
- Step 2: Click on "Form 16B/16C/16D/16E (For Buyer/ Tenant/Payer/Buyer of VDA)" available under "Downloads" tab.
- Step 3: Select "Form Type" as 26QE "Assessment Year" from drop down list enter "Acknowledgement Number" and "PAN of the Seller of VDA". Request Number will be generated.
- Step 4: Click on "HTTP Download" button if status of request is "Available" under "Requested Downloads".
- Step 5: Open Zip file of Form 16E by entering password as "Date of Birth of Buyer of VDA" (in DDMMYYYY format) e.g., 15051990.
- Form 16E status will be available in 'Requested Downloads', Buyer of VDA can search request for Form 16E by using:
a) Request Number
b) Date
c) View All - The 'Password' for opening 'Form 16E' zip file will be 'Date of Birth of Buyer of VDA' (in DDMMYYYY format) e.g., 15051990.
- 'Buyer of VDA' can place the download request of 'Form 16E' for each challan against same acknowledgement number.
- Description of Requested Status of 'Form 16E' are:
1. Submitted: Request for Form 16E has been submitted.
2. Available: Requested Form16E is available for Downloading.
3. Failed: Need to request 'Form 16E' again or can contact CPC (TDS). - No.
